He shared a meal with the one who betrayed him.
He washed the feet of those who didn't quite get what he was fully about.
He even washed the feet of the one he knew was betraying him.
This is radical love, friends.
It's the kind of love Jesus
has modeled perfectly for us,
and it's what we've been called to as his people.
This love changes things and people
and life trajectories into eternity.
The most excellent way of love.
The whole earth went dark. Cries went unanswered.
Silence is misread and misinterpreted as defeat.
Can joy be destroyed? It’s a thing to enjoy, although some of us avoid rejoicing as we wait for the seeds of joy planted in the soil to grow. Does waiting destroy joy? Maybe it doesn’t destroy the joy, but waiting can hide joy under the soil of longing to enjoy the feeling of rejoicing. Sorrow turns to joy, which makes weeping and mourning a thing that can be destroyed, or maybe just forgotten or buried in the soil, even if only for a little while. God-with-us gives birth to joy in the flesh, hearts unable to avoid rejoicing. Sorrow turned to joy when death was destroyed. So true joy can never truly be destroyed. Rejoicing in the waiting doesn’t have to be avoided, or buried in the soil. Seeds of joy are enjoyed when joy is complete.
It is finished.
Until tomorrow,
Becky
