August 23, 2012. My first love leaf sighting.
I’d been praying for eyes to see, and this was the first of so many heart-shaped leaves that started showing up everywhere.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;
what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Antoine de-Saint-Exupéry
Hearts have always made me think of love. Super-cliché, I know. But hearts are the universal symbol for love, aren’t they? Outside of Valentine’s Day and the days leading up to it, I never see many hearts. At least, I didn’t until August of 2012.
Eleven years later, and these leaves just appear to me now. It’s what I see.
An invitation
Join me for a #loveleavesglimpses challenge -
one month to focus on the glimpses love leaves where we least expect it.
Here’s how:
SEE IT - whether it’s a heart-shaped leaf, or heart-shaped anything else, or anything else that is a glimpse of love for you in your daily life…take a picture of it.
SHARE IT - whether it’s one word or many, share your glimpses and words in a post. Using the hashtag #loveleavesglimpses helps us connect and enjoy each other’s glimpses.
You’re welcome to join in as often as you’d like throughout the month. And be sure to follow the #loveleavesglimpses hashtag on Instagram to see what others are sharing. Invite a few friends to join us as we take a month to focus on the glimpses love leaves where we least expect it.
May we have fresh eyes to see all that might have been there all along that just hadn’t been noticed before…like heart-shaped leaves on the ground suddenly noticed after a prayer.
“Set your minds on things above…
…above all, put on love.”
Colossians 3:2,14
Until next time,
